Yes, that isn’t justifiable in your society. Surely you’ll be safe and pampered in your society. But, yours you’re are not the only one. There are a lot of other societies that are different than yours. How will you be able to interact or even fight them (as foes) if you don’t understand them. Thats why you need to understand them so that you’ll be well equipped and can plot your strategies for future interactions. To understand them is not equal to agreeing with them.
Anyway, life will be much more exciting when we are open to new encounters. Just like when we are able to speak many languages, imagine that.
Something to consider but not for anyone: if youre thinking of using latex, why don’t just learn how to use raw latex packages. Download the packages and use your own editor and PDF viewer. It you’re using Linux, maybe something like [(neo)vim+vimtex]+zathura. Anyway you can still use LyX to easily create math formula by copy pasting. And for backup, you can use github (plus Dropbox) etc.
Russia’s oil revenue both from the EU and in total has been massively reduced.
Not really. Although Russia revenue from the EU has been reduced significantly, they manage to open up a new market in the East that massively stabilise their gas overall revenues. Russia is nowadays redirecting its resources east and building news pipelines to meet the demand from the East e.g. China. They no longer care much about the EU market.
That was never the intention and totally unexpected outcome of the sanction. They never thought China, India and even Turkey will come to the rescue. To say EU are not affected is an understatement. The EU now has to depend on the higher price gas from the US, Germany had to abandon their green initiatives and go back to coal, and they even have to buy Russian gas at higher inflated price from middleman to circumvent their own sanction - do you really think they dont know they are actually buying Russian gas? Of course they know. But they have to because they will suffer more if they don’t.
I see Russia’s s need for survival the same way when Japan was sanctioned during WW2. Japan didn’t survive simply because they can’t sustain a long war, where they can’t replenish their resources fast enough.
For Russia to even survive, they need to find allies quickly so they can sustain in the long run. I think they see that in China. However Russia will need to stay dormant for quite sometimes, because they won’t be able to fight head-on against the backer of Europe, the US. Russia will simply lose. They need to passively maintaining their power while piggyback on China for support.
And rubble is worthless, no doubt about that. What they’ll do now is to rebuilt their East-based economy, by piling up large amount of reserve currency, such as Yuan. They have been trying to persuade other countries to do the same by reducing their dependency on the US Dollar. They others need to do that for their plan to work. It doesnt seem to work, at least for now.
Anyway what I found interesting is not about Russia but the emergence of India. India’s boldness to defy the call for Russia’s sanction and to take advantage of Russia’s desperation to sell their resources is simply brazen and unheard of. I think the Ukraine conflict has incidentally propel India as a serious emerging country, announcing that they have their own projected goals instead of being forced to choose side.
The EU will think now Russia is their enemy. But Russia is not even that powerful if we pull nuclear capability out of the equation. But their alliance with the East will be the real problem as it may accelerate the creation of a more powerful China and ironically revitalise the dying Russia, which in the end will actually strengthen them.
This is why The US/EU was not able to crumble Russian economy and stop their advance in Ukraine after the sanctions took place. The didn’t expect that China and surprisingly India, and Turkey (to some extent) will come to the rescue. Although Russia was definitely hit hard by the sanction, they manage to reverse the damages by redirecting their resources to the East instead. They have now formally change their policy to Looking/dealing East.
If Hamas is advocating for that, why haven’t they held a single election since 2006
You have to ask Palestinian Authority (PA) for that, not Hamas. Hamas has won both Gaza and the West Bank, but PA refuse to relinquish it’s power and forcefully remain to govern the West Bank.
It was Abu Mazen (Mahmoud Abbas) that delayed and then cancel the election since that. Most probably because of his internal political struggle within Fatah itself, and he’s afraid that Hamas will win again and prove the irrelevance of Fatah amongst the Palestinians.
Anyway, the Israel is happy that Abu Mazen stay because they need a weak leader as puppet that govern the brittle West Bank. As long as the weak Fatah remains, Hamas will also remain to be (designated as) a terrorist org, so they won’t be able to bring about the cause of Palestinian people to the negotiation table.
This is it. Most people here were banned from subreddit; that’s not really that severe compare to being banned site-wide. Anyway if someone keep reposting to the banned subreddit (even by using different accounts but same device), they’ll get banned site-wide. And once they get banned by reddit, it’s really difficult to sign up with new accounts. Even if they manage to circumvent system, they’ll be a good chance that reddit will discover through one way or the other in the future (through device or IP, and they’ll be re-banned. You seem to partially confirm this.
Once I got someone banned (not something I am proud of) because he misused the reddit suicidal report to report me. The funny thing was he actually wanted to report someone else but he mistakenly selected me as the reported party because I was replying to his comment under a different subreddit of academic/learning nature (r/whatstheword). I know it was him who reported me as suidical because my innocent comment was replied by him using swear words and not long after that I receive messages from reddit about where to get help if I felt suicidal. Anyway, once I reported him, it was quick. Around the same day or next, his username was deleted along with all his comments. I couldn’t search his username any longer. He’s vanished from reddit altogether.
Expedite technology transfer, for example. For the GB being able to exploit and plunder the Indian subcontinent, they have to provide good transport system to transfer all the plundered goods back to their country. Just look at Indian’s rail system now. It is hard to imagine them having it without this unintentional transfer of tech.
Having said that, I don’t condone using this argument to make things right. Ethically their still wrong. At least The Netherlands has the guts to admit it. My country is one of the countries exploited by the British. It is nice, as a good gesture, to hear the British to admit they used to be the bad guy. It’s not going to change anything in the past, but it can somehow provide a sense of closure for the future.
and why Hungary?
